My mission statement and commitment to you is:

At Space to Breathe I aim to hear and value every person, to help you achieve your goals and discover your potential. Supporting people in the difficulties of life to heal and know that you are not alone. Helping clients experiencing the challenges of mental health issues to overcome and be free to live a fulfilling life.

This is through offering affordable 1:1 counselling in a safe and confidential environment for as long as each individual client needs. I offer counselling for individuals aged 18 and over.

I offer both short and long term counselling, depending on what is right for you. I would initially contract for six sessions and after this time we would review and agree how you would like to move forwards.

Sessions usually will last for 55 minutes.

I charge a fee of £35 per session (Note the initial assessment session is at a reduced fee of £20). Payments can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

What next and what to expect?

If you are interested in starting counselling, the first step is to contact me via telephone or email. I will take some initial details and we will book in the first assessment session.

I will meet you on arrival and introduce myself. This first session will be an opportunity for you to get to know me and me to get to know you. From here you can make an informed decision about whether you would like to continue to work together.

I will ask you some questions to assess your needs and whether counselling is the best option for you. This will include questions for example about your medical history, family relationships, social life, work and hobbies. I may also ask you what your hopes and goals are for your counselling.

There will also be plenty of opportunity for you to ask me any questions that you may have.

If for any reason counselling does not seem to be the right choice for you, I will do my best to sign post you towards further suitable help.

During the next session we will complete a contract, so that we are both clear about what we can expect from each other. You will be in control of how you use the time that we have together and the sessions will progress at your pace. We will have regular reviews to ensure that you are getting what you need from your counselling. It is also in your control whenever you would like to choose to bring your counselling to an end.
